Where do I begin? I noticed that my last post was April of 2010, so I've got a lot of catching you up to do.
Well, it was in March of 2010 that Mark and I booked our honeymoon cruise to Alaska and pretty much from that point on, until we actually departed for the trip in early September, everything was a crazed whirlwind of working extra hours to pay for the trip and all of the planning involved in such a venture.
Two days before our flight out of Maine, we received official notification that we could marry in the church we'd been hoping for. That said, from the time our amazing Alaskan (pre-wedding honeymoon) adventure ended, we were again in a frenzy only this time it was all to plan our wedding...in less than 60 days I might add.
That brings us to December 11, 2010, the best day of my life so far. Wedding day! Everything went beautifully and we couldn't have been happier.
As you might imagine, the wedding was no sooner over and Christmas was upon us which we hadn't even had the slightest plans made for nor a present purchased yet. Again, mass craziness ensued and before I knew it I woked up to find that it was January of 2011. Time for those good 'ol New Year's resolutions!
So here we are again, starting what might be a very long and arduous journey to physical and emotional fitness. I'm ready this time and have added a few other personal challenges, things I've wanted to start doing or give up or tackle in some way. In addition to kicking my sugar habit which is probably the #1 goal (after all, sugar IS evil!), I'm giving up diet soda (Diet Pepsi, in particular) for good and am taking additional steps to become vegan. I've been drinking diet soda since I was a teenager, so at age 37 it's more than time to stop consuming these carbonated chemicals once and for all. As for the vegan thing, it's something I've wanted to do for a very long time and have tried once many years ago but didn't ever give it a solid commitment. As I've been a vegetarian for almost two years now, I think I'm ready for the next step.
There you have it, folks, my laundry list of reasons (or excuses) for not posting for the past 8-1/2 months. I hope you'll stick with me as I stick to these goals and together we'll reach new levels of fitness, both on the inside and outside.
Stay tuned for my next post where I'll enter my starting weight and photo which will hopefully serve as motivation along the way.
Happy New Year, Everyone!!!! Great things are about to happen!
